When we become parents we want to provide our children whatever we were lacking growing up. We want them the be happy and achieve their potential.
In theory it sounds easy – we can copy part of parenting we received that helped us and then improve on the rest. In reality it is nothing like that.
All of us carry transgenerational scripts – most of them unconscious – and some days can find ourselves doing the very thing we promised we would never do. Sometimes we can shock ourselves delivering the same negative messages that were forced upon us and formed into our restrictive self-beliefs about ourselves and the world.
How do we heal ourselves to become parents we want to be? How can unpick what belongs to us and what – to previous generations?
